Regional Salary Reports Reveal Healthy Pay Activity Overall

The latest annual salary reports from Croner Reward have been revealed, highlighting healthy pay activity overall within the respective regions.

Yorkshire / North East, March 2017

This report covered Durham, East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, Tyne & Wear, West Yorkshire. In this years’ survey of the Yorkshire and North East region, data was collected from 45 companies, employing almost 61,000 staff. Overall, our survey research determined:
  • A basic median salary of £37,033 at Management level, compared to a national basic median of £37,722
  • A basic median salary of £18,820 at Clerical level, compared to a national basic median of £20,292
  • Basic median weekly earnings of £452 for Operatives, compared to a national basic median of £392.82.
Since the last report was published in April 2016, salaries across the region have increased broadly in line with market trends we report each month – seeing increases of 2.5% for management staff; 2.7% for clerical workers; and a healthy 5% for operatives.

East Midlands, April 2017

Areas covered in the report were Derbyshire, Burton-on-Trent, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, and Northamptonshire. This years’ survey of the East Midlands region includes data collected from 46 companies, employing a total of 214,495 staff. Our overall research determined that within the East Midlands region, pay movement in the last 12 months has been static, with jobs at management level showing no movement, and a basic median salary of £36,137; clerical roles increasing by around 2% to £20,107; and the average weekly earnings of operatives remaining at around £416. Although operative jobs in the region have shown no movement since the 2016 report, they remain above the national median earnings of £392.82 per week; while jobs at management and clerical level remain behind the national median basic equivalent.
