Croner is on the lookout for Britain's best employer, as part of the 2012 National Business Awards. Judges of the Employer of the Year Award will be looking for organisations that can demonstrate how the implementation and design of its HR policy has been stimulating and engaging for people in the workplace. Businesses will be selected as finalists for their investment in employees, which achieves and sustains commercial and competitive success, and firms that run initiatives to create a more collaborative culture. Uxbridge-based Rackspace took home the 2011 Employer of the Year Award, for going the extra mile to create a great place to work. The company, which is a leader in IT hosting and cloud computing, designs hosting services to enable companies of all sizes to buy computing capacity over the internet, on a pay-as-you-go basis, so that they never need to buy another server again. Now entering its eleventh year, the National Business Awards recognises the best performing organisations in the public, private and third sectors – from thriving SMEs, dynamic entrepreneurs and enterprising charities to FTSE 100 businesses. Across 17 categories (full list below), this annual awards programme recognises excellence in seven core areas – growth, innovation, staff engagement, customer focus, leadership, ethics and financial performance. Andy Hague, Managing Director at Croner says: "Croner is delighted to be sponsoring the Employer of the Year Award for the second year running. Last year each of the 10 finalists had radically different business models but what they all had in common was the value that they placed on their staff. Recognising that their employees are an important part of their business has clearly had a substantial impact on the success of those companies. Each one could demonstrate how investment in the workforce had contributed significantly to the performance of the business. They had such an inherent sense of culture and values which was embraced from the very top down. I'm very much looking forward to judging the awards this year to see how people practices in companies throughout the UK can generate business success." Finalists will be announced in August and winners will be announced at the National Business Awards gala dinner and awards ceremony in London at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday, November 13.
