Why were Safety schemes in procurement introduced?

SSIP accreditations were introduced in 2009 to help contractors and small businesses across the country save time and money when optioning for work, and allow business owners to focus on growing their businesses.

As SSIP is widely recognised, meaning that businesses won’t need to continue repeating the assessment to gain the accreditation, nor will they need to carry out the assessment on a per job basis or for each client.
